On average, I wear stripes at least twice a week, sometimes much more. My closet is full of stripes and I love the idea of incorporating them into my home. These pieces have me inspired to recover a piece of furniture. How beautiful is the blue stripe on the first set of chairs?!

Something about the month of May gets me so excited every year. The warmer weather, the celebrations {seems like someone is always graduating or getting married}, summer vacations, the long memorial day weekend, and just so happens my birthday falls on the very last day of the month. Around the first of May every year, I get the inevitable question from family and boyfriend “what do you want for your birthday.” I’ve learned, so now before they even have a chance to ask the question, I send them an email with a list of little things I love. Here are the few items I wouldn’t mind unwrapping this year!

prints: flamingo, headdress, coffee
shoes: high-tops, flats
books: lunch in paris, sweets, paris in color
for fun: sunglasses, beaded clutch, large tote, sign

It’s quite obvious I am constantly inspired by interiors, and ones that are “accessible and chic” are my ideal. I love the work of Nathan Turner, and just my luck he is having a book signing here in New Orleans, for his very first book, American Style! Join us at Tara Shaw on Thursday, May 30, from 5-7 pm, for an evening of timeless tips on style and effortless entertaining.

Tara Shaw is located at 1240 Camp Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70130

Seeing double? It seems that way, doesn’t it? But these are actually from two different stores! They are the exact same size and very similar in color and style. However one is the half the price {at its regular price}. I love finds like this!

their way: Anthropologie $10
the save way: World Market $5

Even though the brighter summer months are upon us, I still can’t get enough of black and white. Such a classic color combination, that’s perfect no matter the season.

Sometimes the best desserts are the easiest. This one is a favorite of mine. Just a few slice and bake cookies {I used the minis}, a little ice cream and some sprinkles to top it off. Very simple and such a treat.

I love this look, and can’t wait to wear something similar. All I need is a new pair of kicks! Nothing better than stripes and sneakers for the summer {and a little tan would be nice too}.

The bf and I are always looking for less expensive things to do, and lately we have been quick to open a bottle of wine, put together a small cheese plate and sit on the front porch. Nothing fancy, just the two of us, enjoying the springtime, extended daylight, and the not so hot weather.

I came across this post yesterday, and was immediately inspired to search for a kaftan. The most cozy, chic look and perfect for traveling. Wear during the day as a cover up and as a dress, or with white jeans in the evening. Here are a few of my favorite options from World Market, and all under $30!
