festive fringe

tissue paper {make sure to include a metallic}, string, cutting mat, scissors, glue gun
1. stack all the tissue, one color at a time, on top of each other and begin to cut strips, mine were about a 1/2 inch wide
2. take each row of cut tissue and hang evenly over a chopstick
3. take the center of the tissue {at the top of the chopstick} and begin to twist over your string, be sure to not tear the tissue paper
4. use a drop of hot glue to ensure your twist are secure on the string

treats, no tricks

As lame as it may sound, I have zero plans for Halloween this year, and to be honest I am perfectly happy with it. I plan on doing a little baking and having a night in. How great are all these Halloween treats?

well wrapped….

I never have gift wrap on hand and I always take the last-minute route of buying a gift bag and a few pieces of tissue paper. Recently on a trip to the Dollar Store I came across plain brown paper, for that’s right, you guessed it, a $1! I purchased the paper with no intention of doing anything with it. Until one day I decided to get out the paint and brushes and create a little chevron and polka-dot pattern. Nothing better than handmade wrapping paper! Also, this would be perfect paper for a photo backdrop for your next party!

P.S. There a far more pros about living in Southern Louisiana then cons, however one of the cons we have to deal with is hurricanes. Activity on lucky girl finds this week may be a little less than usual, however if I still have power and internet I will keep on posting!

colorful kitchen

I actually enjoy shopping for kitchen items, from bakeware to bowls and everything in between. Whenever I am shopping for something to add to my kitchen collection, I always think about how it would look if it gets left out on the counter. After all, there is no need to hide everything behind cabinet doors. Over the years I have created quite the colorful collection. Next time you are picking up items for your kitchen skip those boring plastic measuring cups, and go for something a little brighter, and more bold! Here are a few of my favorite kitchen items. {need a house-warming gift? these would be perfect!}

friday finds {purchased}

I just purchased, literally a few minutes ago, the cutest cheese knives ever! The ones I currently have are all mis-matched and these were just too cute to pass up! Gotta love the Anthropologie sale! Also, these would make perfect wedding shower gifts too! Happy Friday!

where’s my seat

For my sister’s bridesmaid luncheon we went with something casual, fun and festive. With wine flowing and delicious food. My mom and sister put together amazing, bridesmaids, goodie bags that included almost everything! From homemade emergency bridal kits, to fun slippers, flip-flops and matching shirts to wear while we were getting ready for the big day {more on those to come}.

We wanted everything to be at the guests seats when they arrived, therefore we needed some form of seat identifier. Instead of doing name cards we did photos of my sister with every guest, we had collected the photos throughout her engagement. The frames, believe it or not are from the Dollar store! Such a cute way to identify seats and makes a great party favor for everyone to take home! Not to mention we also had wine glass markers for each member of the bridal party to go along next to the frames.

when the sun goes down

turn the little white lights on. Nothing says summer evenings like the soft flicker of outdoor lighting. I have a few strands hung in my outdoor space and I love the glow they cast when it turns dusk! I also love the idea of candles outside, if only I had a space large enough to host an outdoor dinner, one day!

simply made

It’s been a while since I have had some free time to spend in the kitchen, and this past weekend I took advantage of the rainy days to stay inside.  I have been eyeing the new Philadelphia Indulgence line since it was introduced. I came up with something extremely simple and very quick to put together. What is also nice, you can make one at a time, which is perfect for those of us with very small households. Or you can make a whole batch to share at your next get together! Simply spread the Philadelphia indulgence onto the cookie {I chose great butter,crisp, waffle cookies} and add strawberries and blueberries on top!

party puffs

I recently hosted my sisters bachelorette party and had these little party puffs throughout the beach condo. And I have to say I don’t think I will ever throw a party again without them. They instantly add color in such a fun way, and make great backdrops for photos!  I purchased mine {here}, however supposedly they are fairly easy to make {click through the first photo below for a DIY}. And what’s great if you make your own, you have an endless amount of color options, when it comes to tissue paper. {If you do purchase, they can be used again, as long as you carefully take them down.}
