Fall

reaching for…

On a recent trip to St. Louis I made a pit spot at H&M {I can’t resist} and picked up several casual sweaters and sweatshirts {keeping on theme with my last post}. I can’t wait to wear them throughout the cooler months, perfect to dress up with a pair of jeans and heels, or to throw on over a casual dress. I have my eye on several more sweaters to scoop up when they open here in New Orleans!  After many years of waiting, the doors open on Oct. 31! In the meantime, here are my H&M online picks for comfy and casual.

styling perfection

Veronica Beard is a designer whose collections I look forward to every season. I absolutely love her pieces and the looks she creates. The price points are out of my range, but the styling is perfect for inspiration. These images from her fall collection have me inspired and craving much cooler weather!

Best of… September

With October starting tomorrow {where does the time go?} I thought I would look back on a few of my favorite things from September. From an epic bike day with amazing friends, to trying new restaurants, picking up a few new clothing items, a trip to Austin, and a night with Jerry Seinfeld… September you were good, you were real good, can’t wait to see what the rest of Fall has in store.

must have

My olive military vest is in full rotation. It’s the perfect transition piece, light enough to add layers, but not warmth, and lays nicely over dresses, button downs and blouses. Once it gets a little cooler, it will be perfect for over sweaters as well. If you don’t have one, you should get one, I think you will be surprised at how much you wear it.

something missing

A piece that remains missing from my closet is a classic trench. I love the look, but have never gotten around to purchasing one, and the weather here doesn’t call for this type of piece too often. The fall looks for Zara are amazing and this trench is calling my name. I love the shape and the details, and the fact it looks, oh so similar, to a fancy Burberry one, that I’ve loved forever.

boot challenge

A girlfriend and I got to talking the other day about booties, and I became inspired with the idea of forgoing knee-high boots this year. I think I can support this for a few reasons, first off, it doesn’t get that cold down here, secondly, booties tend to be less expensive and thirdly the styles are much more fun {a few of my favorites featured below}. A little personal challenge for myself, can I get through the fall and winter with booties only? Challenge accepted!
