shop the sales

After the holiday rush settles down, the heat turns up on the sale racks. I am a firm believer that discounts tend to be better in store. I always find additional savings, as well as,  perks for using store credit cards while in store. For instance,  Saks, in store only, on Sunday, the sale racks were an additional 50% off and an additional 10% off when you use your Saks card. So worth it for the trip to the store! {see what I purchased here, and if you have a second go ahead and like the page} I have always had great success when shopping in store this time of year. However there are some stores I absolutely love that are thousands of miles away {ok, a little exaggeration}. Zara is one of them and they have great sales online that can’t be missed! Here are my top picks!

{heels $49.99, flats $39.99}

{leopard $29.99, red stripe $25.99, black $49.99}

{metallic trousers $59.99}

{bowler $49.99, animal print $39.99}

bringing home the birkin

For Christmas, I got the fantastic book Bringing Home the Birkin {my life in hot pursuit of the world’s most coveted handbag}. I am absolutely in love with the story. I am only about half way through it, but had to share with you. It’s the perfect mix of fashion, business, and pleasure! Looking for something to read in the new year? I highly recommend it!

perfect timing

I have forever been a fan of watches, even as a small child! For the last several years I have been wearing an extremely large, gold, mens, Michael Kors watch {similar style here}. I came across these light-weight, but still large in size, timex watches in NYC. I bought one and absolutely LOVE it! I got one for my mom for Christmas too!  It’s nice to still have the masculine size but not the weight. Also, it’s Timex, a long-lasting watch brand, and they are only $60 on Piperlime!

top knot

From Breakfast at Tiffany’s to Carrie in Sex and the City the high-bun has stood the test of time. I must admit I rarely wear my hair up and out of my face, but this is a look I have tried and love! After all we all need a little hair inspiration every once and a while. {not too mention this is a great style for this time of year}

with a bow on top

I love the feminine touch of the bow on this top! I came across the expensive version in this months InStyle magazine and happen to see the less expensive top in my sisters closet over the Christmas holiday. Needless to say, I had to rush right out and get myself one as well. This is just another example that great style is within everyone’s reach. {the less expensive version is almost $200 less than the expensive version!}

their way: Nordstrom, Equipment $228

the save way: Kohl’s, Jennifer Lopez, $33.60

mr. fresh

While visiting NYC I was introduced to Joe Fresh, not the man, but the store. It was a total breath of fresh air. I was taken back by the selection and price tags! Think J.Crew meets H&M {but better quality and more organized}. The merchandise mix was on point with everything from sweaters, to boots, belts, and sequins. Unfortunately no online shopping is available yet, but I was told it would be coming soon {I have been checking daily}. You must stop by a Joe Fresh store if you are in Canada or New York! For now here is a glimpse of a few things I purchased!

{love the selection}

don’t be afraid {be inspired}

One of the biggest fashion myths I find low-price shoppers cling to is that large, upscale, department stores are out of their price reach. Well I am here to say do not be afraid. Those with smaller budgets tend to stray away from these places. I instead jump right in. These department stores can be the perfect place for inspiration not to mention sale racks, especially at the end of the season. During my stay in NYC I visited Bloomingdale’s, my absolute favorite high-end department store. Here you can find anything from couture designers too much lower priced in-house brands such as aqua! The sales racks were packed full! With half-price cashmere, dressy silk tops even current winter items. I found a great top for $40! Not to mention I didn’t mind snapping inspiration along the way. The best part about Bloomingdale’s… the dressing rooms. They are huge, not to mention so perfectly decorated {the birds are not real}.

{amazing fitting rooms}

Moral of the story, don’t be intimidated to shop higher-end department stores, even if you come out empty-handed you still leave inspired!

{a little inspiration}
