Dressing Debate

Some days I wish I had a closet full of high-end party dresses for everyday wear and other days I wish I could live in sweatpants and tennis shoes. I typically settle on a happy medium of casual dresses and flats or jeans and sweaters but lately I am reaching for nothing but comfort. I scooped up these and these and have a feeling they are going to get a lot of weekend wear.

Round Hill

Last month when our original vacation plans to Cabo were spoiled by a hurricane we made the quick decision to change locations (thanks to the ease of Southwest) and picked Jamaica. Literally 24 hours before we were set to arrive – Round Hill Resort came to our rescue. What a treat we were in for. Five amazing days spent in paradise – no schedules, no place to be, minimal cell phones and no TV – the relaxation was just what I needed.

The resort is truly one of a kind – steeped in history, beautiful architecture and the most amazing people. JFK and Jackie honeymooned here, Megan Markle and Prince Harry visited last year, Ralph Lauren owns a few villas and frequents often – not to mentioned designed several of the public spaces.

Not only did we come home with amazing memories – but lots of design inspiration too! I can’t wait to get back.

Neck Scarf

This summer I have been reaching for my light weight scarves and bandanas to add a twist to my basic summer knits. There are so many ways you can tie it but I love a simple knot near the neck. When you aren’t wearing it around your neck try tying in your ponytail or as a headband.

Face Update

I recently ventured out of my comfort zone in the world of beauty products. I tend to have sensitive skin that breaks out with the use of any new product and have remained consistent in my routine. In the world we live in today we are constantly bombarded with new products {ie instagram ads and influencer content}- that are filled with promises to be the next best thing. I fell for a few of those and have been pleasantly surprised with the results.

I ordered several things from Beautycounter and the eye cream and dew skin have been my favorite. Right after you put on the dew skin – think moisturizing coverage – you literally get the dewy skin of a super model! When I recently went on vacation it was the only thing I put on my skin during the day.

The Summer Friday’s Jet Lag face mask is a favorite! I use it every, single night. You can use it as a mask or use it like a moisturizer; I prefer the latter. It is super hydrating and smell great too.

Have you tried any new facial products? Would love to know which ones you love.

Bathing Suit Bliss

Something about a bathing suit brings a smile to my face. It makes me think back to times as a child running through the sprinkler in the back yard, going to swim team practice and hanging at the neighborhood pool all summer. As an adult, it reminds me of the tropical vacations I have taken, summer holidays at my parents condo on the beach in Florida and the relaxing feeling of being close to water.

Dorothy Shain visited New Orleans a few years back and I discovered her amazing bikini paintings and just learned today – she has prints – thanks Instagram! They are retro, playful and full of character – and I think I need three!

Wanting Moore

I’ve been following Mandy Moore’s home renovation project on her insta stories for the last year or so and have been SO inspired by the snippets she has shared. Today her full home tour was release on AD.com and she and her home grace the July cover. A midcentury vibe, a touch of blush, mixed metals, a marble kitchen and the most amazing bath tub views – sign me up!

Packing List

Packing my suitcase for a tropical trip this week. Can’t wait to wear these new pieces.

Take A Seat

It’s no secret Target has been on top of the home game for a while now. When the Opalhouse collection was released I couldn’t wait to get a closer look. More pieces from the line have continued to be introduced and the accent chairs have my eye. How fabulous is the cane back chair? Thinking I may need two.

Summer Table

Now that I own my own house entertaining has been top of mind; especially since the longer days of summer are officially here. Aerin Lauder is back at it again with Williams Sonoma adding even more amazing pieces to her everyday collection. The wine bucket is first on my list – just the perfect piece to chill your summer rose.
