cheers to the year that was

2013 was a good year, but I have to be honest I am anxiously awaiting 2014, and can’t wait to see what is in store. In early 2014 a few babies will be making their debuts {including a niece for me!!}, and I have a few weddings that are sure to be ones for the books. Personally I plan on paying more attention to my own goals {and making them achievable}, especially the ones I really let slide this year.

Looking back over Lucky Girl Finds throughout this past year I created some of my most favorite DIYs to date, traveled well and overall just had fun! A few {more like 22} of my favorites are included below. Thanks for following along and Happy New Years to you and yours!

top it off

For once we had a very cold Christmas, and I loved it! Normally our weather is all over the map, but this year we had a traditional chilly Christmas. These past few days I have been reaching for my hats when going outside {which rarely happens around here}, but when my head is warm, the rest of me is as well. I only have two winter hats I switch between and if this colder weather sticks around I may have to add one or two more to the collection.

well wrapped

You have all your gifts, now what? Gather supplies and get to wrapping! I purchase all my wrapping paper from T.J. Maxx or Marshalls and usually stick with basic paper and more festive ribbon. Dollar Tree is the best for boxes and tissue. For tags, I always turn the to the web for free printables. This year, I came across these precious designs which come in two color schemes, one more traditional and one more fun with black and gold. See a peek at one of my wrapped gifts over on instagram!

for him, by him

I did something a little different for this gift guide and reached out straight to the source. I had my boyfriend compile his favorites and I have to say the gift selection is pretty good! Looking for other gift ideas? See my other two guides here and here. Also, don’t forget about the new Lucky Girl Finds shopping section, with all my favorites.

O Christmas Tree!

My small apartment is the perfect size for me, but no room for a Christmas tree. I long for the days when I will have a place large enough for a full size tree, filled with lights, ornaments and memories. Until then my apartment pretty much looks like this every Christmas. For that day when I do bring home a tree, a little inspiration.

15 under $15

I usually don’t go overboard on gift shopping, but sometimes I feel a little thought can go a long way, and you don’t have to break the bank. Today I have rounded up a few of my favorites, all under $15, check out the super cute fox slippers and the wishbone bottle opener, to name a few!

alligator museum

You never know what you will notice when you walk around New Orleans, this alligator museum is just down the street, and I’m so intrigued as to what is inside.  We took these pictures while shooting the Langford Market City Guide, and these jeans are my absolute fav. Now, I wouldn’t call them a Lucky Girl Find {they are pricey} but I’m 5’11” and they are extremely long and oh so soft, so for me they are worth the investment.

pulled together casual

This time of year I feel like I have two extremes when it comes to dressing, super casual for running errands, baking and gift wrapping and fun and glamorous for holiday parties and cocktails. I picked up a few new pieces from the Loft last weekend for both occasions, however I want to go back for a few more casual pieces, how great are these pieces to throw on, yet still looked put together.
