something missing

A piece that remains missing from my closet is a classic trench. I love the look, but have never gotten around to purchasing one, and the weather here doesn’t call for this type of piece too often. The fall looks for Zara are amazing and this trench is calling my name. I love the shape and the details, and the fact it looks, oh so similar, to a fancy Burberry one, that I’ve loved forever.

son of a sailor

I learned a lot while at Texas Style Council, but my favorite class hands down, was a DIY with Son of a Sailor Jewelry and Supply. I absolutely love the look of painted leather, not to mention, many of their pieces are one-of-a kind.  This is a new to me brand and I can’t wait to watch them grow. Here are a few of my favorite pieces.

For a peek at my final DIY project, check it out over on my Facebook page!

boot challenge

A girlfriend and I got to talking the other day about booties, and I became inspired with the idea of forgoing knee-high boots this year. I think I can support this for a few reasons, first off, it doesn’t get that cold down here, secondly, booties tend to be less expensive and thirdly the styles are much more fun {a few of my favorites featured below}. A little personal challenge for myself, can I get through the fall and winter with booties only? Challenge accepted!

sister style

It’s crazy that kids are going back to school and we are almost halfway into August, where has the summer gone? We took these pictures earlier in the summer and I have to share before fall starts knocking at the door {even though I’m kinda ready for it, as mentioned here}. One of my favorite ways to wear a causal dress is with a shirt layered on top. This is a maxi dress, with an oldie but goodie, lace top. Wear your favorite go-to dress too often? Throw a shirt on top and get a totally different look. Also, a perfect way to bring your maxi’s into fall.

inspiration for fall

People often ask, how do I stay inspired while shopping, two words….Fashion Week. Every fashion week I pay close attention to the shows, looking for common themes, trends and new silhouettes. I pin my favorite looks on pinterest, then refer to those pins when the season is upon us. To say I am looking forward to Fall 2013, is an understatement. The cooler weather and everything that comes along with it cannot get here soon enough. Here are the trends I will be on the lookout for when adding fall pieces to my closet.

friday finds

One thing I love about Texas Style Council is meeting new bloggers and brands that I can support and share.  I discovered the online shop of Moorea Seal and it is an amazing one, filled with uniquely curated pieces at price points for everyone. The three pieces below are all under $30.

smiles all around

My weekend in Austin was such a success. Seeing old friends, making new ones and learning a few things along the way. On Saturday evening we had the opportunity to play with several brands and snap a few fun photos throughout the evening. I love these pics courtesy of Bonlook!
