chambray & stripes

I had some time to snap a few outfit photos while in Austin last weekend and had to share. I absolutely LOVE this skirt, and you would never guess it’s from JCPenney! If you get a chance swing by and check out the MNG by Mango collection, I love it! And,  as most of you know by now,  one of my new years resolutions is to mix more patterns,  hence the leopard and stripe combination.

I tend to always throw a scarf around my neck when I am running out the door. My go-to outfit, especially when I am in a rush, consist of jeans, basic tops and colorful scarves. I recently wore a zebra scarf {I wrote about here} and received so many compliments, I had to write about happy scarf again! I absolutely love the unique variety and of course the prices! Check out the great new styles, and all for $24, and FREE shipping too!

There is nothing like good ol fashion lip color. I have forever been collecting lipsticks and pulled a few out recently. I have re-introduced colored lips back into my everyday routine. Here are some oldies but goodies. However I have immediate plans to add to my collection. And by immediate, I mean this afternoon!

*still don’t know what to wear for St. Patty’s day tomorrow? Check out what I am wearing here.

don’t get pinched

What are you wearing on Saturday? St. Patrick’s Day that is? I will be wearing these green jeans from Zara. I picked them up in San Francisco and snagged a few other colors as well. They have a great fit and are well priced! If you are lucky enough to have a Zara near you, I would check out the selection in store, it’s much larger than the online.

Texas Style Council

Missing Austin so much today! I had a fabulous weekend meeting so many new friends, listening to great speakers and engaging with new brands. I have new-found motivation and feel like I need to take an entire week to get all my thoughts and inspiration together. Here is a glimpse into the fabulous weekend. Big shout out to the women who put on this wonderful event, I am counting down the days till next year. {look for upcoming post featuring some of my favorite items I came across}

life lately….

Multiple cities, over a course of many days, mixing work with pleasure and blogging on the side, has truly made me realize that I have so much to be thankful for. Being away has made me grateful for the place I call home, even though my apartment is small and New Orleans can have a bad reputation, the place I call home is mine and is filled with things I love and daily reminders of how fortunate I am. Work is work, but has presented so many amazing opportunities, and has allowed me to fill my home and life with those objects and items I love. And for blogging, well I think it’s what keeps me sane, and is paving the way for me to explore places I may have never gone before.

Over this past weekend I was able to attend Texas Style Council in Austin, and was overwhelmed by the amount of self-driven bloggers and small business owners all with one mission, to find and follow your passion. I leave Austin filled with inspiration, from blog ideas to living life more passionately. So even though I may huff and puff about getting up for work, or experience frustrations with traveling I am truly grateful for the experiences which life has brought my way. Even more thankful for the support of family and friends and those I have met on the journey! So back to New Orleans I go, with many photos and lots of laundry to sort through.

Walk into my small apartment any evening and you will immediately notice the multiple candles burning throughout. I purchased this Missoni for Target candle a while back and could not toss out the holder once the candle had burned. I slightly melted the wax and cleaned out the inside and it has become a multi-purpose container. From flowers to markers and even small candles, It continues to move around my apartment {it’s now on my desk at work, shown below}. Just remember this before you toss out that pretty little candle holder. {also, keep the glass ones and clean out and use for little flower vases around your house or as a thoughtful surprise for a friend}
